It’s Twixmas Time – But What Is It And What Should We Do With It?
If you are in a job that stops for the Christmas holidays, you will currently be in twixmas. This is the time between the 27th and 30th of December where you don’t really know what day it is! You’re surviving on turkey, chocolate and cheese, your house might still look like a bomb has hit it and you’ve not found homes for any of the presents!
According to google trends, the searches for the word ‘twixmas’ peak in around November each year, with an increasing interest in the idea of this period noted in the last two years.
Now you’ve made it through Christmas, many people like to use these few days in between Christmas & New Year to recharge their batteries. You could spend a few days on the sofa in your pyjamas binge watching Netflix series, or get out for some long walks to burn off those mince pies! This time of year is also a perfect time to bag some bargains in the winter sales, we have 3 birthday’s in our family in the next month so this is particularly useful for us.
If you’ve not heard of the term Twixmas before, it’s derived from the old English phrase ‘betwixt’, which means in between. You see, every day is a school day! All in all, twixmas is a time where there isn’t much going on, but that’s not a bad thing after what can be a chaotic Christmas… so if you are lucky enough to have these few days off in between Christmas & New Year, enjoy and make the most of it!
